With our second fire station in Brentwood now closed, our firefighters are running so many extra calls they don't have time to make quality and healthy dinners for themselves. Our community can show support and appreciation by bringing them dinner. I am coordinating dinners seven days a week for the month of August, for the fire house in Brentwood (on John Muir Parkway). I spoke to the firefighters and they have no specific dietary requests, and are very appreciative of the community support. Consider having a scouting troop you are involved in or another community group work together to take them a meal. Feel free to include an encouraging note from your group or family. I will leave a basket on the front porch (directly under the door bell) for you to leave dinners if they are on a call. Please ring the bell first, if no one answers, leave dinner and they will collect it when they return from their call. Please try and be as close to 5 o'clock as you can. Please bring meals in disposable containers, or containers that do not need to be returned. Thank you to everyone who signed up! I know they will appreciate it. I will print the schedule and take it to them ASAP. They have requested that we wait and see if this works for them before I add more days. I will add additional days when I get the word from them. Grocery Outlet in Oakley has offered a 10% discount to people bring Station 52 a meal, here is the information from Jessalynn (the owner of Grocery Outlet in Oakley): When someone comes in all they need to do is let the cashier know they are providing a meal for the fire station and give them the name they signed up with. We will find their name on this list and cross it out and a manager will approve the discount. Easy peasy! We will honor one 10% discount per date that the person signed up for. That way if someone signs up for 2 dates they can enjoy a discount for both meals. The discount will apply to their entire order (so it's a great opportunity to stock up for home too, and our way of saying an extra "thank you" to those who are stepping up give their time and going the extra mile for our fire fighters). This discount is only valid at the Grocery Outlet in Oakley. Happy shopping!
