RMH COVID-19 UPDATE
Posted Mar 12, 2020 by Morgan Knox of Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh
Dear Meals from the Heart Volunteers and all RMH activity volunteers,
Thank you for your patience as Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh has been making protocol updates and developments considering the current coronavirus pandemic. Because of our families already compromised immune systems and the volunteers and families safety and health being of our utmost priority, beginning Monday, March 16th all RMH Volunteer Activities, including the Meals from the Heart Program, will need to be rescheduled or cancelled until further notice. We will not be able to host any in house volunteers or tours at this time. (Volunteer activities before March 16th will move forward as planned). We apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your time and continued dedication in serving our families.
Regarding meal cancellations, we understand your wish to feed our families while they are staying with us and are far away from their homes. Please contact Morgan if you wish to schedule a catered meal to be dropped off in lieu of the cancelled meal. Gift cards to any grocery store or restaurants would also be very much appreciated. Feel free to contact Morgan for more information.
If you still wish to get involved and make a difference in our families lives during this time, we are continuing to accept in-kind donations such as house wish list items and welcome bags. Food related welcome bags and donations such as store-bought instant meals, microwavable meals and canned goods are very much appreciated. **Please note all donations will be required to be dropped off in the first floor lobby as the Penthouse Remains closed.
Should anything change, please look out for additional correspondence as we continue to monitor developments regarding the coronavirus.
As always, we appreciate your efforts in volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh.

Good Morning, Meals from the Heart Volunteers!
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to feeding our families. The Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh is running very low on paper plates, paper bowls, napkins, cutlery, cups and the items the families use to enjoy your wonderful meals. These items were previously requested for the meals but not required. Due to the volume needed and cost of these items, we are now going to be asking our meals from the heart groups to provide them. This will even further assist the Charity as we provide the opportunity for families to be by their child’s bedside as they face life-saving medical situations.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator
P.S.**Any group's main contact who has not yet turned in their online meal confirmation form for an upcoming meal, please do so as this information is due in advanced so we have the information for our house calendar. Thank you!**
Urgent - RMH Pittsburgh - Guidelines
Posted Jun 19, 2018 by Morgan Knox of Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh
Hello new and ongoing meal providers at RMH Pittsburgh!
As we enter into a new season, I wanted to reiterate a policy we have in our Kitchen. RMHC Global has enforced the guideline that all food must be prepared and cooked in our Charity kitchen, or else prepared by a restaurant, grocery store or commercial/certified kitchen. This includes ALL aspects of the meal including sides, salads, desserts and more. Nothing can be prepped or cooked in advanced or heated up in our kitchen. All items must be new, unopened and sealed while entering our kitchen for preparations unless prepared pre-made by the options listed. Please note that groups that bring items pre-made or prepped from home will be advised not to serve this food to our families. This guideline was put in place several years ago because of the medical nature of some of our guests and because of the fragile immune systems that they sometimes possess. For any questions regarding this guideline, please call me at 412-246-1103 or reply to this email.
As always, thank you so much for your support in our Charity and for providing meals to our guests! Without you we could not make the meal program possible. Thank you!
