I'd like to take a few moments to say thank you for the tremendous outpouring of care. The meals, financial support, cards, emails, calls, texts, and visits have been sincerely appreciated. The girls and doing well, and I'm trying my best to work through all of the things. I cry a lot, but I think it's all an important part of the process. My goal since the beginning was to do whatever I need to do to be the best father and human being I can be, and to make Anne proud. Anne was a special human, and I will always cherish the time we had together. She was a great teacher, and I continue to reflect on all that that she taught me and likely taught many of you as well. Although her body is no longer with us, she will always remain in our hearts and in our minds. If you ever feel like a good cry, I'm always happy to take about any and all of her special characteristics.
I am so grateful to have had some time off of work, although I will be returning at the end of the month. I believe we have a good plan to support the logistical transition. Thank you for all of the help with the girls. Thank you for the rides, playdates, and sleepovers. In closing, thank you, thank you, thank you for being part of our family. Thank you for your outpouring of love, empathy, and compassion.
Peace and Healing

Dear Friends and Family,
A few more dates have been added to the Havens' Meal Train. Jim and the girls have enjoyed the meals and visits. Thanks for the comforting food and company!

We are forever grateful!

Hello Dear Ones,
It is with heavy hearts we are mourning the loss of our sweet Anne. As most of you have heard by now, Anne passed yesterday morning, Saturday, January 29th with her family by her side. May we all take peace in that her final word was “hallelujah”.
There will be a Christian Memorial and Celebration of Life Service this coming Saturday, February 5th at 2pm at Fairmount Bible Church. The address is 15100 W 48th Avenue, Golden, Colorado. A private burial will be held earlier in the week.
We are keeping the meal train going as is for now. The family continues to be so grateful for your support in that way. In lieu of flowers it is Anne’s wish that donations are made here on Mealtrain.com for Violet and Lydia’s college fund.
Holding all of you with so much love,
Feeling Your Love

Hi Friends & Family,
Since starting hospice care last weekend there have been some significant changes to share, Anne’s sweet body is getting ready to transition. We are in our final days with our beautiful Anne.
Know that she is surrounded by her loved ones around the clock now. Hospice care was here today supporting Anne and working their special comfort magic. Visits from this point forward will be very limited. If you would like to leave a voicemail or email that you want read to her, please respond to me here and I’ll help make sure your message is received.
The family so appreciates your thoughts and your prayers. Your on-going support means the world. Meals have been essential in sustaining their family and have lifted their hearts so much. They feel your LOVE! Thank you, thank you, thank you. For everything.
Love to you all,
Hello Anne’s Friends and Family

On behalf of Anne and Jim and family I wanted to share an update here. If you are wanting to stay informed as to what is happening, this will be the place for updates as the family navigates hospice care and these precious moments with Anne.
First and foremost, the outpouring of love has been so felt… like being wrapped in a warm blanket. Anne is truly feeling how much everyone loves and cares about her. Thank you so much, what a gift.
Accommodating visits will be tricky and we’ll learn more in the next couple days about what works best for Anne and the family. Know that things are changing by the day and even by the hour, so it is understandable that any plans made must remain flexible.
Sending so much love to all of you, this stunning network of humans connected by our love for this beautiful family…
This holiday season, all we can say is THANK YOU!

Friends and Family,
‘Tis the season of gratitude and we are extremely grateful for you! Thanks for being a part of the Haven’s Meal Train—for every meal, for every ride to/from treatment and for your compassion that has extended beyond the calendar.
Some of you have inquired about additional ways to help, so we have set up a monetary donation page on this Meal Train. Your donations will help ease some of the financial burden associated with medical treatments and palliative care to keep Anne comfortable. It will allow for the Havens to focus on what matters most now—their precious time together.
We humbly ask that you share as you see fit. Any amount, no matter how small, is appreciated.

My Heart to Yours
Posted Dec 29, 2021 by Anne Havens
Hello my beautiful people, love warriors, family,
It has been a while since my last update. There have been a lot of physical changes and hardships that I have been dealing with lately, greatly affecting my energy and abilities. Just before Thanksgiving they switched my chemo regimen to Gemcitabine (another chemo) along with Carbo Platinum (also another chemo).
Since Thanksgiving, I have continued to feel worse and my tumor markers have been elevating over time. Last week they decided to do another pet scan to see how the new treatment was working. The results showed the new regimen is slowing and stabilizing the cancer. There is, however, some growth in the lymph nodes in the neck and some worsening on the skin but the liver and bones are stable. The current plan is to continue this course of treatment for as long as it helps. So that my friends is the “good news”.
What follows is harder for me to share but important for me to speak freely about. At some point this course of treatment will likely stop working and there is only one other chemo that could be tried. My doctor feels it is important for me to prepare for limited time left. While I am not sure what that will mean I can feel the truth in her words as it aligns with how I am feeling in my body. It feels essential for me to share this with all of you.
Please know how much I love you and I know how deeply I feel your love in return. I know this is not easy to accept or even understand. There will be times I will feel up to hanging out one on one, and times I will need to turn inward and be quiet.
Plans will need to be somewhat short and open to last minute changes, as my body and needs fluctuate from day to day, sometimes hour to hour. Ideas for hanging out may include some quiet cozy time in bed, giggling, reminiscing, watching a fun movie, sitting and sharing a little tea or gentle back rub, perhaps even a short walk if I am feeling up for it. Or on the lighter side, a manicure or pedicure are always a welcome date. Got any other easy self-care date ideas? I am open to hearing about it!
Here are some thoughts I have about what feels helpful and supportive in general. The meals and the rides are still such a wonderful gift to me and the family, and so much appreciated. There is one particular drink that has been helping me stay hydrated, it is called RECHARGE and is available at Natural Grocers. The lemon and the orange flavors have been working for me. Coconut water has been another drink my body seems to tolerate well. And of course, your prayers are always appreciated.
For my crafty peeps, if you’re up for putting together a photo album or video of any fun memories you may have stashed it would be a fabulous gift to me and something that the girls would cherish. I’d even be up for anyone who wanted to come capture some new pictures or video sometime soon. I am sure there are some other creative ideas out there too if anyone wants to share.
I find so much comfort in my newfound faith in Jesus Christ and the God of the bible. There is so much peace in accepting the fullness and beauty of this life’s journey and for what is to come. I feel surrounded by such love and grace, my hope is you’ll feel a bit of that too.
With all my love,

Hello, Friends and Family!
New dates have been added to the calendar if you would like to prepare a meal or send a gift card to Anne and family. Anne will begin a new chemo treatment protocol starting next week and rides/to from Rocky Mountain Cancer Center are greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your outpouring of love and support!

Thank you Lisa Bernal and Colleen Pritz for the delicious homemade soup deliveries this week! I wasn’t feeling great this week so really appreciated the nourishment for the body and soul. Thank you so much to Steve Leggett, Chelsea Walters, and Melissa Iselin for delivering delicious meals as well. And thank you to my drivers this week Megan Montoya and Tiffany Fourment for getting me where I needed to go! I appreciate the time and energy it takes for these rides and for preparing a special meal for the family.
I am getting a pet scan next Wednesday and meeting with the oncologist on Friday so will have a better game plan then. For now, I am enjoying 2 weeks off of chemo and trying to recover from a cold or some kind of bug.
Thank you all so much your help, it’s keeping me going!
Pet scan results and new fall treatment schedule
Posted Sep 22, 2021 by Anne Havens
Hello Wonderful Team,
Thank you all so much for your continued support. We appreciate you so much! Your love spans the distance as I have received many Grubhub/Ubereats/Doordash Meal Gift Cards from those across the country. A big thank you to Joyce Kirk, Kim & Ken Hess, The Bernals, Jill Dyer, Stacy Davies, Kristen Schneck, Jill Peters, Caroline Stallings, Reba Mitchell, The Lovgrens, Elle Kaplan, Katie Mcdonald, Neelu Shukla, The Paidakovich Family, Mom & Dad, Yvonne Klein, Marybeth & Ken Ford for the meal gift cards this summer. They have provided convenience and fun for the whole family!
My recent scan results indicate stability in the liver and a reduction in the bone metastases. We are closely monitoring some spots that have returned on the skin but did not show up on the scan. For these reasons we are continuing with the same taxol chemo and returning to a weekly treatment schedule. Fortunately, on my weeks off of chemo I have enjoyed some wonderful moments with friends and family-- seeing live music, dancing, hiking, visiting Telluride, and spending time with my Sister. All of which have brightened my spirits and strengthened my immune system. Grateful for these special memories! I will continue to give it my all as we move into the weekly treatment schedule-- "I get by with a little help from my friends" (and family!)
The new fall calendar is updated if you have the capacity to help with rides or meals.
I love you all so much!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Anne & Family
Keep on Truckin

Hello Love Army,
I successfully completed my 9th round of Taxol chemo yesterday without any bad reactions. I had been having some weird reactions to the Benadryl and chemo during the infusions for the past few weeks. I think having a week off was helpful and gave my body some time to detox and reset. So happy about this!
A big thank you to Blair for watching the girls all day yesterday, to Jennifer for rides to and from chemo and to Lisa for a delicious dinner. It made the day smooth and joyful! And thank you to everyone for all of your help this summer. It has made dealing with weekly chemo so much easier and fun (if chemo can be fun?)
Starting in September we will be asking for help just on Tuesdays for rides and meals and Thursdays for meals. We appreciate your help so much and love spending some time with you.
I will do 2 more weeks of chemo and then a scan at the end of August. We continue to pray for effective treatments, minimal side effects and a positive scan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank You!
Love and Blessings To Each of You,

Hello, Anne's Army!
With school just around the corner and Anne's treatments continuing, we've added a few more dates to our Meal Train!
If you are available to assist Anne with rides/to from treatments that would be much appreciated! As before, two people can divide up the rides (one to and one from treatment) Please note that Anne's treatments are typically ending around 3pm, but each has been slightly different. Thanks for your flexibility!

Good News From Oncologist
Posted Jul 14, 2021 by Anne Havens
We had a great meeting with the oncologist yesterday. She was very pleased with the decrease in tumor markers and stable blood counts as well as the marked improvement in my skin where there was metastasis.
She recommended that after this cycle of chemo ( 2 more weeks) I can have a week off and then move to a 3 week on, 1 week off schedule. We are very happy about this news as this gives us more freedom to live and gives Anne’s body a break from chemo to rebuild and reduce side effects.
Thank you all so much for your continued love, prayers and healing energy you are sending our way. We truly believe this makes a difference and contributes to these positive results. We are so grateful for the meals, childcare, cards, gift cards, rides to treatment and for being such kickass humans! We love you so much!!
With love and gratitude,
Anne and Jim

Homeward Bound--Fingers Crossed!

**UPDATE TO BELOW**
Anne is out of the hospital and at home! :)
Hello, Anne's Army!
Anne was admitted to the hospital earlier in the week with a high fever. As it turns out, she had pneumonia. They have kept her there to calibrate the antibiotics to fight the infection, and ensure there is improvement. She definitely feels better, so the goal today is to send her home! Yay! I'll update the group.
Big thanks to those who helped with watching Violet and Lydia (and Rajah!), so that Jim could be with Anne in the hospital. The Havens are grateful beyond words!
Post Treatment TLC
Posted Jun 13, 2021 by Justin Paidakovich
Anne’s energy level tends to be lower a couple of days after chemo, so we’d like to add playdates/outings on the calendar for Violet and Lydia. This would be an opportunity for the girls to see friends and allow Anne to rest and recharge!
Additionally, we are setting up weekend visits to check in on the family and offer assistance. Some ideas may include:
Joining Anne and Rajah for a walk
Doing a load of laundry
Running an errand
Massaging Anne’s stiff shoulder (no experience necessary!)
Reiki or other healing modalities
Preparing and enjoying lunch together
Initiating a Haven’s HUGFEST!!!!
Anne and Jim will let you know what is most needed at the time.
The rides are fun!
Posted Jun 9, 2021 by Anne Havens
Thank you to Jennifer and Blair for the first 2 rides to the new chemo treatments. I was all geared up with the cooling cap (to prevent hair loss), and a cooler full of ice packs to prevent neuropathy!
I have enjoyed the time catching up, connecting and having a little girl time during the ride. You all make me happy!
Thank you so much for your time, energy, meals, groceries, gift cards, rides, and love. I can’t imagine a more kind, generous, and fun support system. I love you all!
Anne's Treatments for the rest of June through July 6
Posted Jun 6, 2021 by Justin Paidakovich
Hello, Friends and Family!
Anne completed her first treatment this week. One down! She had enough energy for a nice long walk, which ended up in a great night's sleep. Probably much needed and welcomed!
Anne was able to confirm her upcoming treatment appointments through July 6. They will still be on Tuesdays, but each treatment has a slightly different start time. For those of you who have volunteered for transportation or childcare in June- July 6, I'll reach out to you individually to see if you have flexibility to accommodate the changes. If you are unable, that is perfectly fine! We can open the calendar back up. No problem!
Anne will keep me posted with her upcoming July treatment schedule, and we'll communicate accordingly.
Your meals, your visits, your texts, your calls, your emails, your prayers, your meditations, your hugs (virtual too!) bring comfort and encouragement. Whether you are near or far, the Havens are wrapped in your love and support!
Enlisting Anne's Army!
Posted May 21, 2021 by Justin Paidakovich
Family and Friends (who are like Family!),
Thanks for taking the time to read this update and Call-to-Action!
Anne’s oncologist would like her to start a new chemotherapy protocol, receiving it intravenously every week for approximately 10 weeks. We are enlisting her army of caregivers to assist with transportation/childcare for the duration of her chemo!
Rides to/from Rocky Mountain Cancer Center for her scheduled treatments on Tuesdays at 9:40 am.
Anne will need a ride from her house at 8:45 am, and to be picked up from Rocky Mountain C.C. at approximately 1pm.
(This could be a two person job! One for drop off, one for pick up)
Watching Violet and Lydia during Anne’s weekly treatment on Tuesdays from 8:30am- 2pm (??)
Can be at the Haven’s house or offsite. Whichever is easiest!
If you have the capacity to help, please refer to the scheduling calendar on this Meal Train. Some out-of-state guests are planning to visit this summer. Thanks for making the trip to Colorado to spend time with Anne, Jim, Violet and Lydia!
If you would like to help but have weekday work commitments - No problem! The family is grateful to receive prepared dinners or Grub Hub gift cards which can be coordinated through this Meal Train.
As the saying goes, “it takes a village” and each of you has a very special place in the hearts of the Haven’s family.

Green Juice Goodness!
Posted May 18, 2021 by Justin Paidakovich
Hello, Friends! This is Justin, Anne’s sister. Thanks for rallying around Anne and the family. The time you’ve spent delivering meals and sending gift cards has been so appreciated!
Anne has found that drinking green juice has made her feel a little less “crummy”. She would welcome any of the organic ingredients she uses to juice:
Limes or lemons
Sprouts also delivers, so gift cards could be used toward these items (or other groceries for the family).
Thanks again for your generosity!
June dates have been added!

Thanks to everyone for rallying on the meal train. Let’s keep it going! :-)

Thank you all so much! The dinners have been delicious and so helpful to our family. I just finished my 3 rd round of chemo. Thankfully, I felt better after this round.
It’s been wonderful to see you all, have a little time to visit and feel your love and support.
Much Love and Gratitude,
