Vagabond Missions: Hill District Underground

About this Meal Train page

Vagabond Missions is a Catholic non-profit serving teenagers in inner-city neighborhoods across the city. Our missionaries go out into the streets to meet teens and build authentic hope-filled relationships with them. We build up these relationships in many different ways, including a weekly youth night with games, dinner, and a brief message. These nights are outreach nights - our missionaries are intentionally seeking out those who are unchurched. Thanks for being the face and hands of Christ by helping us feed these teens! The Hill District missionaries currently serve teens through various youth outreach programs and events in the old "Z Best BBQ" building at 1315 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. There is parking right on Fifth Avenue of right at the corner of our building on Logan Street. The evening begins at 6pm, so please arrive around 5:30pm or 5:45pm with the food so there is enough time to set up. We will have drinks, plates, napkins, and plasticware for the meal. We do NOT have an oven or kitchen facilities. We do have ziploc bags and aluminum foil to help wrap leftovers that can be given away at the end of the night. Don't be offended if some of the kids don't care for a particular food or recipe - there can sometimes be great cultural differences in what they are used to eating! Please reference our recommended meals for a safe option. Desserts are a huge plus but not necessary. You are welcome to stay for as much of the night as you want.
