Special Instructions

The family is staying at a dear friend's home from February 6th - March 5th. They will welcome frozen or freezable meals at any time during this window. Food can be dropped off just inside the front door - there is a small unheated entryway with a table where meals can be left. Please make sure what you bring is clearly labeled so they know what it is and if it requires any specific prep. They would also love a little note from you! If you want to nourish us but don't feel like cooking, The Little Market Box sells some lovely pre-made meals that we would deeply enjoy. D'Lish also sells $10 litres of soup! Favorite Meals or Restaurants

For Kjelti's recovery from birth & the transition to full time breastfeeding, it is really important that she receives adequate & appropriate postpartum nourishment. Ideal Postpartum Meals are WARMING, ANIMAL-BASED, EASILY DIGESTIBLE, GROUNDING, & EASY TO EAT. - Bone broth based soups/stews with slow cooked meats & root veggies. - Pureed soups with squash, pumpkin, root veggies. - Flavourful meatballs. - Shepherd's pie. - Soaked grains or rice cooked in bone broth. - Dahl made with soaked lentils. - Include warming herbs & spices like rosemary, turmeric, black pepper, curry, ginger, garlic, and onions. - Include organic ingredients where possible, especially meat & dairy. - Include high-quality fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, heavy cream, or lard. - Rice pudding or congee. - Quiche, or egg bakes. - Stewed fruit, or fruit crisps. We also really appreciate easy-to-grab snacks for middle-of-the-night nursing sessions & for Era to munch on. Things like: - Hearty muffins of all descriptions. - Power balls or homemade granola bars. - Breakfast bars.

Least Favorite Meals

Foods that are less ideal for the postpartum mother's sensitive digestion: - Raw or undercooked vegetables of any kind, especially brassicas. - Highly processed or sugary foods. - Really cheesy or heavy meals that are typically hard to digest.
