Reminder to log your hours

Posted Jul 26, 2022 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Volunteers, We cannot thank you all enough for the phenomenal way you all show up for our clients! We are consistently told that meals you provide are one of the most significant ways they are shown love while they are staying with us in our safe house. We know that you put a lot of love and time into shopping, preparing and delivering the meals for them. To honor that time, we want to be sure that we say "THANK YOU" often and that we capture your efforts in our reporting to our grantors. So if you could take a few minutes to log your volunteer hours (to include time spent grocery shopping, preparing the meal and delivering the meal to us) this will assist us with reporting. The link to do so is here (just copy and paste): https://growfreetn.org/volunteer-timesheet/ UPDATE: Because we had to submit this information for a grant report by July 31st, I went ahead and manually entered everyone's hours to date. Please only enter your time moving forward from today. WE LOVE YOU GUYS! Thank You! Thank You! Thank you! Tara Davis Community Relationship Coordinator 865.292.3134

OH NO! We've run out of volunteers!!!

Posted Jun 29, 2022 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Well, actually I'm pretty sure we haven't REALLY run out of volunteers. However, we don't have anyone signed up to provide any meals for the rest of the year so I got a little nervous! LOL. We know that we still have YOU and that you just needed a reminder that we have an opportunity available for you to provide a meal to the residents of our safe house. So I invite those who are willing and able to sign up on our Meal Train! It is one of the most rewarding opportunities we have because it allows you to directly impact a survivor by letting them know through a meal that someone is thinking of them and caring for them and not asking for a thing in return. If you have any questions regarding the Meal Train, please let me know! Regards, Tara Community Relationship Coordinator

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!

Posted Mar 8, 2022 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello! Consistently, we are told by the residents of our safe house that the meals donated weekly are one of the main reason they say they feel loved and cared for during their stay. And that's because of YOU! The thought and care you out into each meal prepared and/or delivered to them means so much and we can't thank you enough for taking the time to support them. Currently, we are in need of sign ups for the Meal Train. If you have time to donate a meal, please consider signing up. Thank you! Tara Davis Community Relationship Coordinator

We Need YOUR Help!

Posted Oct 4, 2021 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello friends! Our Meal Train volunteers are some of the most consistent (and appreciated) donors we have! Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to support our Safe House weekly with delicious meals for our residents. I can see that we have quite a few open dates left on our Meal Train calendar for 2021. If there are those with time in their schedules to participate, we ask that you, consider signing up for a meal. There are ways to do safe, contactless meal delivery. And we also accept gift cards to order and have meals delivered. We also encourage you to share this information with a friend or two or with your church and/or civic groups and ask them to consider signing up to prepare a meal. We also remind you go to the volunteer timesheet tab on our website to log in your volunteer hours (shopping, dinner preparation and delivery) as it helps us to accurately capture all of our volunteer work hours for grant purposes. Thank you again! Tara Community Relationship Coordinator

Sign ups available for April!

Posted Apr 9, 2021 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello friends! Wow, another month has flown by! Seems like time slowed down during the complete shutdown and now that things are beginning to open back up and "get back to normal", the time is flying by. It's April already! We want to encourage those who support the Meal Train for residents of the Emergency Response to check out the calendar for April (and beyond) for available dates to provide a meal. There are quite a few dates open for you to sign up. We often hear from past residents that having the meal from volunteers means so much to them in terms of the way they are cared for during their time with us. And we want to continue to give them this special touch at a potentially traumatic time in their journey to escaping their situation. So please consider signing up for a meal and sharing this opportunity with your friends, coworkers and others in your civic organizations and worship groups. Have a great weekend! Christmas Dinner donation request

Posted Dec 22, 2020 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello, friends! I hope this message finds you well and healthy. And hopefully, not to frazzled by the busyness of the holiday season. As you know, the residents of our safe house do not have access to a full size kitchen at the Emergency Response Center. So they are unable to prepare a meal for Christmas. I was going to order them something from a local restaurant or grocery store, but I thought I would reach out to you all to see if there was anyone willing and available to provide a meal for them on Friday. We currently have three residents with no dietary restrictions. If you would like the opportunity to provide this meal, please text me at 865.292.3134 before Thursday morning. Again, we appreciate all that you all do for the Coalition. We wish you a happy holiday season! Tara Community Relationship Coordinator

Meal Train for the rest of 2020

Posted Nov 30, 2020 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello friends! First, I just want to thank each of you for participating with our Meal Train this past year. We know that this year has likely looked somewhat different for most of us than in years past and for you to take the time and effort to support our Safe House with delicious meals has been greatly appreciative by our residents. As we go into this last month of the year, I'm looking over our Meal Train calendar sign ups and see quite a few unfilled dates. If there are those with time in their schedules to participate, please consider signing up for a meal. There are ways to do safe, contactless meal delivery. And we also accept gift cards to order and have meals delivered. Thank you again! Please be safe and healthy this holiday season. Regards, Tara Operations and Volunteer Coordinator

Meal Train Resumes!

Posted Jun 2, 2020 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello Friends! Wow! It has been over 10 weeks since we've had staff onsite of our shelter or in our offices. As of June 1st, we are beginning to phase back in. So we are bringing back our volunteer-donated meals. We are proceeding with this transition cautiously and ask you to be patient with us as we look at ways to continue our quality of service to our clients while simultaneously balancing public health safety. At this time, we are asking volunteers to adhere to the recommendations of the CDC to utilize either Restaurants or "Contact-Free" delivery of the meals to our office for the residents of our safe house. Please read the guidelines outlined here (also at the top of the Meal Train webpage): "This information is based on what the Centers for Disease Control(CDC) currently knows about the Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19). As guidance from the CDC changes, this document will be updated. We encourage concerned individuals to follow state and local health department communications for the best information and accurate instructions for each unique community. Meal Train recommendation The CDC states that the the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. This means avoiding close contact, and putting distance between yourself and other people. Meal Train therefore recommends that participants/givers either arrange for restaurant delivery of a meal or perform a "contact-free" delivery. "Contact-free" delivery Maintain distance between yourself and the recipient and avoid entering the recipient's home. Options include: Place the meal or groceries in a cooler on the porch. Leave the meal or groceries by the front door and return to your car. Once in your car, kindly call the recipient and let them know the delivery is available. If no one answers, contact the Meal Train organizer or, if possible, attempt a "Contact-Free" delivery with a neighbor or family member. Restaurant delivery Consider using a local restaurant to prepare and deliver the meal for you. You can use a service like Grubhub, DoorDash, or Postmates to arrange for meal delivery up to 1 week in advance, or contact the restaurant directly. Send a Grubhub or restaurant/grocery gift card so the recipient may place their own order for delivery from a restaurant of their choice. Safety is a priority If you are sick, the CDC recommends that you stay home, except to get medical care. If you are sick and currently scheduled to deliver a meal, please sign in and cancel the meal booking. We will alert the organizer and recipient of the cancellation. Your health and safety must be a priority." Once you have signed up for a date, you will will receive an email from me with instructions, our address and any additional or updated information regarding these guidelines. If you are planning to deliver food yourself, you may do so at a scheduled time between the hours of 2:30-4:00 p.m. Please text 865.292.3134 to let me know what time to expect you so that I can ensure someone is there to accept the delivery (as of June 1st we are working in rotating teams for the time so scheduling is most helpful). You will deliver the food to our office and again text to let us know you have arrived. Someone will come out to meet you. Please use disposable containers for the food as we are not in a position to wash and return items to you. Again, we hank you for your generosity and support! Don't Forget to Log Your Hours

Posted Mar 26, 2020 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello friends, I have to say that this time at home is bringing about a lot of different emotions in these uncertain time. However, one thing is certain and that is how wonderful we think you guys are and how appreciative we are to have committed and generous volunteers! Part of the way that we capture the support that we receive from our great community is the reporting of volunteer hours. The time that you spend grocery shopping, preparing and delivering meals is important information for us. So, if you wouldn't mind to take a few minutes to report your time when you complete a meal delivery, it would be much appreciated. To do so, just clink on this link https://growfreetn.org/volunteer-timesheet/ Some of you may already added either because you have recorded previous volunteer hours with either Meal Train or another activity or I recently added a handful of you from our February meal deliveries. Just let me know if you experience any issues putting in your time. Again, thank you for all that you do! Stay safe, Tara

Meal Train Donations TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

Posted Mar 18, 2020 by Community Coalition of CCAHT

Hello Friends. By now, we are hoping that you are taking heed of the CDC's recommendations and are keeping your family safe at home, limiting activities that may put you at risk amid the threat of COVID-19. In the interest of public safety and in adherence of the CDC guidelines, CCAHT has sent non-essential staff to work from home. We are still operating our safe house and providing care to our clients throughout the region. However, at this time, we feel it's best to suspend the delivery of meals to reduce the spread of the epidemic in our community and to reduce its potential impact on staff and our residents. We can't thank you all enough for the time and care that you invest in providing meals to our residents each week. With the limited cooking options at the shelter, having these meals twice weekly is a welcoming respite and reminds them that there is support and encouragement in the community. If you would like to continue to do something for our residents (and in no way is this required but knowing the generosity of those who sign up on the Meal Train, I know that someone will ask), we can arrange for meal delivery thru the purchase of gift cards such as Grub Hub, BiteSquad, Door Dash or Uber Eats. These delivery options allow for door drop off without face-to-face interaction. We are also accepting gift card donations via the mail to our post office box. This is also a good way to send letters of encouragement and support which often accompany many of the meals you deliver each week. Our address is: CCAHT, P.O. Box 20937, Knoxville, TN 37940. Again, this is not a requirement. We understand that families could be incurring added expenses or experiences additional losses at this time and we want you to take care of your families. We are committed to doing our part to keep our community safe. Once this epidemic has passed, we will resume operations as normal and will be in touch with you all. Regards, Tara Davis Operations Coordinator
