SFC Vail Valley Meals

Posted Mar 15, 2022 by Birgit Seidel of SFC Vail Valley

Good evening friends, As quickly as the season started it seems to be coming to an end. We have only a few weeks left! Would you consider providing a meal to finish the season off strong? Our numbers have twindled to no more then 20 people each week and we'd love to keep blessing and investing in those that are still around. We have some gift cards left to be able to offset any cost of needed. Thank you!!! Dylan and Birgit

Happy New Years! Our season is in full swing and we are beyond stoked to be able to serve our local mountain workers. They are super appreciative for the home cooked meals each week. I got to talk to a 19 year this past wax night. It's her first time away from home and she's nurturing herself with Ramen, pizza roles and frozen dinners. She feels so loved by receiving a home cooked meal. On her behalf "Thank you!" Please consider cooking a meal for us in the coming weeks to keep conversations going and open doors to share the love of Jesus in a practical way. We greatly appreciate you! Dylan and Birgit

Thanksjibbing Recap

Posted Nov 30, 2021 by Birgit Seidel of SFC Vail Valley

We were in awe of how God provided for us Thanksgiving. We never know how many people will show and will we have enough food is always a valid questions. Well 5 turkeys and 50 people later we had just enough. What a blessing!!! New friendships were made, new tricks were learned, belly's were filled and people got their feet wet "to check us out". Now we pray that they will return (and bring their friends) and for opportunities to share God's love with them. Would you consider being a part of SFC Vail Valley by cooking a meal one Saturday in December. This will allow us to keep blessing and investing into the life our mountain employees. Thank you in advance! Dylan and Birgit SFC Vail Valley

SFC Vail Valley - 2021/2022 season

Posted Nov 18, 2021 by Birgit Seidel of SFC Vail Valley

Good evening, We are getting ready for the start of our 8th season with SFC Vail Valley. We are stoked to see what God has in store for us this season and can't wait to share how He is working. We will be kicking of with our Thanksjibbing event as we have in the past. Vail resort employees don't get to go home for Thanksgiving as most of them just arrived. This is our first opportunity to get to serve and love them as well as welcome them to the valley. This ministry would not be possible without your support. Thank you, thank you for supporting us over the past years. We greatly appreciate it. The calendar for this season is up and ready for sign ups. If you are willing and able would you please consider providing a meal. We will be meeting on Saturdays starting at 5pm and are expecting to serve about 40 people. Thank you again. In Christ, Birgit and Dylan

We have arrived at the home stretch of our 20/21 season. Though it's been a bit different we've embraced it and ran with it. Relationships are being built and strengthened each week. Could we ask you to pray for perseverance for our team and finishing the season out strong? Meals have been greatly appreciated and we have a few spots to be filled. Would you consider cooking for one of these Saturdays? (2/27, 3/6, 3/13, or 3/27) Thank you, Dylan and Birgit

Good evening everyone, I hope you are enjoying this Christmas season as we get to celebrate the birth of our Savior. After a successful socially distant, meals to go Thanksgiving event, we are finally getting in gear for weekly TO GO dinners, wax nights and connecting with the mountain employees. We've been able to spread some cheer on mountain letting the employees know that we care about them and are here for them. Hopefully, with the transition to meet and provide a meal, we are able to build community and share the hope of Christ with them. We have switched our wax/dinner to Saturday afternoons (4:30pm-6pm). This allows employees to come straight to us after work to grab a meal and be in community. We would love your continued support by providing meals! We will box them up before the go out. Thank you. Birgit and Dylan

SFC Vail Valley 2020/2021 Season

Posted Nov 14, 2020 by Birgit Seidel of SFC Vail Valley

Good afternoon! I hope you are enjoying this wintery day bundled up outside or by a warm fire. Our 7th season of SFC is upon us and it is the most uncertain season we have ever encountered. We ask you to please bear with us and be flexible with us. Ultimately, we know that God is in control and He will show us ways in how to best serve our mountain community. At this point we are not allowed to eat in the Chapel basement and we are preparing to have TO GO meals prepped and ready for each of our wax nights. We are still able to have socially distant community (masks on) and hopefully God will use that for us to engage in deeper conversations with each person coming in. If it come to a point of us not being able to meet at all we are praying about delivering meals to employee housings each week. Again, we are definitely not quite sure what this season will look like but we trusting God to direct us and of course follow county orders. New this year, we are putting together welcome backs for employees, so they can feel loved from the get-go and relationships can be formed. We appreciate your partnering with us throughout this ski season and encourage you to sign up for meals through this meal train or contact me directly at 985-264-4394 if there are any other ways you would like to serve alongside us or have any questions. One last note, we are possibly changing our wax nights to Sunday afternoon but are awaiting response from the Vail Interfaith Chapel. Stay tuned. Thank you for your willingness to serve and may God bless you. Birgit and Dylan SFC Vail Valley

Secret Spot Challenge - SFC Vail Valley

Posted Jan 9, 2020 by Birgit Seidel of SFC Vail Valley

Our partnership with you has been a huge blessing and we have been able to encourage and feed hundreds this winter, letting them know that they are dining at a Kingdom table with the people of Jesus. It's been really wonderful, and we have been so blessed by the community that we have been implementing brainstorming sessions on how we can best spend our financial support to bless the community and spread God's love! Recently we were able to buy six beds for some seasonal employees here from South America; we are praying that as they rest on these beds they are also learning and experiencing the rest that Christ offers. Thank you for providing meals, baking cookies, and your prayers for us. They been such an encouragement to us! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, and be encouraged to know that Jesus has sustained a movement in that little room in the basement of the Vail Chapel office building. Thank you for your gracious support over the past six winters. In hopes to change the statistics of suicide rates here in our little mountain town we got involved in the Secret Spot Challenge went last year! We were overjoyed to raise $24,273 for our local nonprofits, Building Hope and My Quiet Cave, who exist to be the change and fight against the darkness that takes form in depression and suicide. As we are speaking on their behalf while partnering for Kingdom building, we ask that you would please consider donating to our event where all proceeds will go to those organizations. I believe in their fight, and believe it is our fight too. If you would like to partner with us in this fight, you can find a link to our campaign here. www.charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/sfc-vail-valley1 Thank you for taking the time to read this! We believe this event will continue to grow, and will be a part of a sustained movement of hope that impacts our community beyond what we know. Thank you for being a part of it!!!
