If planning to drop off meal in person please let them know when to look out for you and/or coordinate any drop off instructions best for the family. If you are wanting to visit, the family is open to short visits. But PLEASE contact first to make sure they are feeling up to it and are able to secure the dogs. Be aware and sensitive that they may be open to visitors one minute, but then things change in a few hours later as his body heals with different levels of pain. He may need more rest some days more than others.
