Meal Train® for Fisher House Arkansas

Special Instructions

Meals may be prepared in our kitchen, but no more than 4 volunteers are permitted at a time so that we do not over-crowd the kitchen when families may need to use it as well. Volunteers who prepare a meal on site are asked to clean up after cooking and package the meal into the refrigerator for guests to help themselves at their convenience but are not expected to stay to serve the meal unless they want to! Feel free to also bring a copy of the recipe for the meal being served and we will add it to our recipe binder (families often ask us for copies of recipes). Meals purchased from a restaurant or prepared in advance may also be dropped off by individuals/groups and volunteers. Volunteers may stay to serve the meal if they choose to do so. We request that meals be ready to serve between 4:00pm-5:30pm for dinner. Please do let us know on the sign-up what time you plan to have the meal ready so that we may post a sign informing our guests what time the meal will be served. Fisher House Arkansas is a free hospitality lodging program that offers families a “home away from home” while their loved one is undergoing inpatient or extensive outpatient treatment at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas. This comfort home offers 16 private guest suites that are each professionally decorated and beautifully furnished. In addition to private guest suites, the house includes a fully equipped gourmet kitchen for families and caregivers to use during their stay. A family’s love is always the best medicine.
