Hello! Two orders of business- One, we have an open meal date for this Sunday 12/11 at Men's Shelter that we're hoping to secure a meal team for. We don't have very many leftovers (some Chick-fil-A chicken for sure), but--- Two, we also have turkeys available to meal teams. As long as you use them in your meals for our guests, we're happy to make them available to you. These can be used for any meal- even that open date on Sunday! :) (If that is the case, you would need to safely thaw in a cold water bath for expedited thawing!) >>If interested in the Sunday meal date, you can sign up in Meal Train. This could mean you providing a meal or even sponsoring pizza delivery or takeout of some sort. Men's Meal Train: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/7der71 >>If interested in reserving a turkey or turkeys, they will be available on a first come basis- email or text me first to check availability to reserve. They will need to be picked up asap, preferably this week or early next. Thanks! Brooke

Tis the time of year that we see quick and drastic increases in guest numbers! With 36 women in shelter as of last evening, we are now asking for portions to feed 45 people. This allows us to serve people who come to our doors but don't stay the night, accounts for increases in women staying with us, and allows staff to sit and enjoy a meal with guests. THANK YOU for your continued support!

Good Morning Meal Teams! We just wanted to let you know that January and February dates on the Meal Train for the Women's Shelter are now open. Also, in case you hadn't seen it, we are now asking meal teams to prepare for 40 people at the Women's Shelter. Our recent numbers have been in the low 30's, and we want to be sure we have enough food for any additional folk who come to our doors and for staff to share a meal with the guests. Thanks again for your continued support! Blessings, Mike and Brooke

You are signing up to provide and serve a meal at the Women’s Shelter, located at 700 E Walnut St. Meal teams will serve the meal also, but if that is not possible for your group, please let us know in advance and we will secure other volunteers for that. Meal Preparation: Meals must be cooked outside of the shelter and brought in ready to serve. Our operating agreement does not allow us to cook at the shelter. Food should be brought in containers that you can take back home with you or are disposable. You can find the current number of portions needed in the Meal Train. We plan to start the season Nov 1 preparing for approximately 25 people. This number will increase as the weather gets colder and as our numbers rise. Bringing the Meal in: Use the rear entrance on the south side of the building. There is no doorbell (likely for the entirety of this season), so please call inside so a staff member or volunteer can open the door for you. The phone number is 920-857-9587. If your hands will be full, please call from your car first and wait for the door to be opened. An alternate method of entry is to walk to the front of the building to the main entrance for the Women’s Shelter. Serving the Meal: The shelter opens and starts receiving guests at 5:00pm. Please plan on arriving with your food no later than 5:30 to set up. Serving runs 5:45-7:15pm. 3-5 people is a good-sized group for the shelter’s kitchen space. Please plan on serving until 7:15pm and clean up after yourselves. After that, hospitality volunteers will put together any meals needed by people coming in late. We ask that Meal Team members wear disposable gloves while serving and/or touching food. Besides the meal we ask you to bring: • 2-3 gallons of milk • 1–2 gallons of juice or a drink • paper plates, cups, and bowls- whatever is needed for your meal Thank you for your willingness to share your love through your gift of cooking with our brothers and sisters at the Shelter. The love you share through this ministry sets the tone for our work – it communicates in a tangible way that every person is important and cared for at St. John’s. Thank you for the blessing you are to all of us. (This information is also now available in the "Instructions" section of this Meal Train.)
