This morning Greg checked in for a five hour procedure done at St Vincent hospital getting ready for first day of chemo treatments that starts tomorrow May 19th.
We do not take any of the support given for granted. We love our community and how each of you have given it so generously. We do believe that getting through this is possible and blessed to have you all lifting us up!
Sending our gratitude.,

April 28th was National Superhero day. A couple days late but shout out to MY superhero, his strength, honesty and love has continued to make him EXTRAORDINARY.
Today he goes in for his first radiation appointment and beginning on path of cancer treatments with radiation and chemotherapy. As we end a month following the diagnosis on March 23rd and the initial SHOCK fading off and not knowing what the coming months will be like with treatments I pray for strength and courage in myself to help my superhero! #superhero
We have been humbled by all of the support and prayers. It has been hard to get through some of these days, but with all the love and support, we can persevere together. Thank you friends and family!

Update Greg and I went to his radiation/oncology appointment Monday, it was meant to be an initial appointment with his radiation doctor and learn what we needed to know from Greg's MRI and what options for cancer treatments.
It ended up being a visit to the emergency when Greg had a "passing out" experience in the patient room. We didn't know but Greg had been running a fever and was dehydrated (even though been drinking so much water at home).
I was grateful that we were in hospital when this happened and great medical staff was right there and began running tests on Greg. Yes he had to have a covid test and tested negative. We went into his doctors appointment at 1pm and got released from emergency around 6pm. That was a rough visit to doctors.
We did get results from MRI and diagnosis of stage 3 rectal/colon cancer a large tumor but none in lymph nodes and first week of May when radiation treatments will begin.
Want everyone to know we are going to beat this, yes there are scary moments and as Greg's partner I will always do right by my husband. Always.
Thank you everyone for your continued support, prayers and generosity. You really do lift us up!

It has been a little over three weeks (23 days to be exact) since Greg was diagnosed with cancer. 22 days since his surgery that he has had complications from & continues to heal from. Today we go in for MRI and hope a lot of questions answered. Monday the 19th where we meet with the radiation team and his cancer doctor and they advise which cancer treatment plan is best for Greg to do. Greg will be doing at least six months of radiation and chemo treatments. At home I have been creating a space for a place to heal.
We are so grateful for our community and their generosity of support, kindness and prayers. Friends don't let friends go through cancer alone. To all our family & friends thank you for being there, we can't imagine going through this alone!

Hello "Team Slim Lively"

Hello "Team Slim Lively" just wanted to share something wonderful that happened Saturday (yesterday). Out of pure luck when we went into Kaizer for an eye exam and they had 'ONE' extra dose they needed to use for day of Pfizer vaccine!! Greg Slim Lively Johnson was able to get his first dose! With Greg's cancer diagnosis and his body not fighting off the bad cells and jeopardized immune system it was even more important for Greg to get vaccine. This was wonderful luck...
We just want to thank everyone who has sent words of support, prayers and generous donations. It has been an overwhelming time dealing with new diagnosis and new responsibilities and everyone who has been there has made this time so much easier. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

We are just wanting to thank "Team Slim Lively" for your support and comforting words. Today is the first oncologist appointment and hopefully we get a lot of questions answered about the cancer.
There are several ways to help with the GoFundme. Please keep in mind while Greg and I both have health insurance we both have had to leave from full time work and pay. https://gofund.me/939c2cd6
The other is the meal train. We are asking at this time for a no contact with help. We would love to see you but I have had only one dose of vaccine and Greg has to get green light from doctors to be get vaccinated. There are ways to help with groceries or gift cards for meal delivery through the Meal Train link. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/9wvrkv
We will get to the other side and so glad to have your support!!
Safeway Gift Cards would be most welcome

Many thanks to all who are committed to helping Greg and Cherie with offers of food. With such a restricted diet, it is difficult for Greg to have home-cooked meals right now. The best way for the next few weeks would be to offer a Safeway gift card in lieu of a meal right now. So feel free to continue to sign up and we will update everyone as Greg's needs change. You are all a blessing and continue to be a source of joy to Greg and Cherie

We are in awe of all the strength of our community, prayers and generous donations. A week ago Greg's and my life changed forever with surgery and the diagnosis of cancer. We haven't felt alone in facing this scary diagnosis and felt comforted and lifted up from everyone's support! Greg's and my life had really just begun in some ways with marriage and traveling (pictured here in Highlands in Scotland) and our continued love for the blues. We feel we can get to the other side and return to everything we love with your help. Thank you to all the helpers Debby Espinor for getting this Meal Train started and to Tracy Turner Pain for starting the GoFundme and everyone's donations and support. Love is being sent to all. #TEAMSLIMLIVELY #CANCERNINJAS
