Meal Train Volunteers Needed

Posted Sep 19, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, This is just a friendly reminder in case you haven't yet had a chance to check out our meal train for upcoming programs. We would love to see many different volunteers sign up to cook or bake for programs. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Other options include having groups come in together to prepare meals. We can also discuss having you come in on a different day to use our kitchen to make and freeze in food. If you need a different option, please reach out and we'll work together. We cannot run our programs without our many volunteers like you. Thank you so much. Meal Train for this year's programs is up! And we need your help :)

Posted Sep 12, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Hey Everyone, As I made this year's meal train I felt like I was asking for so much (I do every year!), but I also reminded myself of God's goodness in how these needs have continued to be met each year. He is faithful, and we are thankful! We know that returning to a full meal schedule will look different than the past two years, but we also know that this has been such a special way to connect with the kids and have heard from them how excited they are to have dinners return. As this will be new for many of you, please reach out with any questions you may have. I'm happy to walk alongside any interested volunteer. You'll notice some dates are missing. This is because we are bringing back cooking nights with all groups, where the kids and youth will help create the meals. Another blessing we are thankful we can begin again. For fall programming, we are asking that all meal and baking donations be brought to the Centre on Tuesdays. This is a day when our After School Programs will be running and our staff will be in the Centre planning, so chances are excellent that someone will be around to greet you. :) If you need a different time, please just call the Centre and ask. We will do our best to accommodate you. Please take a look at the needs listed and sign up where you are able. Baking freezes well so you can bring it in ahead of the date it is needed. We just ask that you label what you bring with your name, the date you signed up for and what the baking is. Please remember that we are a peanut free facility. For Dinners, we are excited to be back to full dinners! This means you can make whatever you would like!! Kids love simple things and really appreciate home cooked meals. You are welcome to come in and cook during the day or during group if you'd like to see how our groups run and help serve. Please let me know if you have any questions. We continue to ask that you hold our center, programs and youth in your prayers. Thank you for your continued support. And feel free to share this with friends, family and your church community! Many hands make light work. :) Erica Hopman Child and Youth Program Director Youth Impact Centre 215 Chestnut St. Dunnville, ON N1A 2H3 905.920.2798 www.youthimpactcentre.com Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. - 1 Peter 5:7

Urgent need for Centre family

Posted Aug 15, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Good evening, I'm just reaching out to our mealtrain community as we have a family experiencing a very tough time right now. Mom has reached out as she is currently back in hospital while the family is struggling through having a very unwell grandfather in hospital as well. We are asking for help to bless this family with meals over this next week to help ease the stress they are under. Depending on the need this mealtrain need may be extended. Please sign up if you are able. Their address is 8031 Hwy. 3, Dunnville (heading out of town towards Canborough). Meals can be brought for 5:30pm. There are no allergies or dietary restrictions. Please hold the Geerlink's family in your prayers during this difficult time. Volunteers needed (and baking too ;))

Posted Jun 28, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Good Afternoon, We are less than one week away from the start of summer programming! Can you believe it? We're so excited to see many smiling faces and are thankful to see most programs are full or almost full. With that said, we need your help! We have an immediate need for volunteers for the following spots: Mondays from 1-5pm: We are in need of help for our outdoor day camp, which will be happening at River’s Edge Haven of Hope. Camp will include a variety of outdoor games, crafts and animal activities. We are currently looking for: - 2 group leaders (aged 16+) to lead a group of 13-14 campers and 3 co-leaders (gr. 9+) to help. Your role would be to bring your group to various stations and help them to participate. You would not need to lead any activities. Thursdays from 10am-5pm: We’re renting a bus and will be going on day trip outings with the youth to various hiking, beach or amusement park locations. We are in need of: - 1-2 Adult volunteers (aged 18+) to accompany them. As we are less than a week away please pray that volunteers would become available. If you are able to pass along this email and meal train to others we would really appreciate it. Along with the meal train for baking, there are many donation items that are needed for the summer. Specifically we need cases of granola bars, large freezies, and sunscreen/bug spray for camp. If you would like to see our complete list of donation items needed, please email me. Thanks so much and have a great week! Baking needed

Posted Apr 12, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, Good news, bad news. :) We are out of stored baking. I had originally signed up for quite a few days so that no baking in our freezer would go to waste; however, we now have limited frozen treats as our youth have been returning for programs! So the good news is we are enjoying well attended groups, the bad news is we need more baking! :) If you love to bake we'd love to have your help. Please check over the dates posted and sign up where you can. Baking can be dropped off anytime that staff are at the Centre, or alternatively at the Music Room Store (beside the dutch store). Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for your continued support. Meal Train Updates

Posted Feb 15, 2022 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning Volunteers, I've been hesitant to send out updated meal train requests as we were unsure what groups would look like in the new year. I'm so excited to say that we've not had to close our doors at all this year. This has been such a blessing as we continue to walk alongside vulnerable youth in our community. As we continue groups I am noticing that we have many gaps in our meal train, including soup for next week. If you could take time to help us fill in the remainder of the spots for programs this year that would be awesome! We are excited to be partnering agin with River's Edge for March break camps. I have added this to the calendar as well. Please help as you are able, thanks so much! Christmas Camps baking and lunch needed

Posted Dec 6, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, We are excited to confirm that we have 50 youth tentatively signed up to attend Christmas camp at the farm. We will be having two day camps on December 21 and 22nd and would love some help with snacks and lunch. If you'd be willing to drop off a pre-made crockpot of soup or chili or baking at River's Edge (1 Haldimand County Rd 17, Dunnville) on one of those two days we would really appreciate it! Just sign up on the meal train. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks so much for your ongoing contributions! We need soup and buns! :) and other updates for our meal train

Posted Oct 25, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, Can I begin by thanking you for your awesome support this year as we've started a somewhat 'back to normal' fall programming schedule. It has been so exciting to see youth once again lining up for programs and to see volunteers returning to our kitchen to prep dinner. Dinner is such a pivotal part of programming here. To you it may just seem like a bowl of soup, but what it represents to our youth is an opportunity to sit together, to have family style dinner, to discuss their day and to form deeper relationships with us and one another. The bible speaks very specifically about the beauty of gathering together and the fellowship of eating (see Acts 2). We see the beauty in this as a community here. Would you be willing to visit the meal train and see where you can help with keeping these meals going? I have broken down the amount needed so there is an option for soup + 2 dozen buns and then a second sign up for another 2 dozen buns. You can make stew or chili as well depending on what you enjoy cooking. The beauty of a large pan of soup/stew/chili is that we can always add a little water to the pan between groups to stretch things if needed. ;) Please sign up where you can and reach out to me if you have any questions. Thanks so much and I hope that you have an awesome week! Gearing up for fall/winter programming! :)

Posted Sep 9, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, Our fall programming line-up is taking shape! We are hoping to return to in person groups beginning on October 5th. We are requesting baking, soup and buns for this year. We hope to be able to enjoy dinner with the youth and will be keeping it simple by serving soup or chili with buns for dinner. One thing that we've really missed is enjoying dinner together. I believe that there is such beauty in this for relationship building. Please take a look at the needs listed and sign up where you are able. You can bake and bring in your items whenever is convenient for you as we will have staff at the Centre most days, all day. :) Baking freezes well so you bring it in ahead of the date it is needed. We just ask that you label what you bring with your name, the date you signed up for and what the baking is. Please individually wrap baking and buns for safe handling. We also ask that you remember that we are a peanut free facility. For Tuesday dinners you are welcome to come in anytime between 9am-3pm to prepare the soup or chili. We have croc pots to keep it warm until we are ready to enjoy it together. Please let me know if you have any questions. We continue to ask that you hold our center, programs and youth in your prayers. Thank you for your continued support. Good Morning! I am hoping that you are all adjusting well to Springing forward! I know I had to pull a few kids out of bed this morning. ;) I have updated our meal train as we have some upcoming date changes due to a switched March/April break. We are needing meals for the next two weeks ( we have enough for this week). Please sign up as you are able. Also, a special thanks for your willingness to help the Geerlinks family last week. Your meals were truly appreciated. Mom is home at this point and we are praying that she will be able to stay home and that the Lord would provide strength, patience and healing for her. I will update you if the need for meals for this family arises again. In the meantime, please hold them up in prayer. Have a blessed week! Meals needed for The Dunnville Youth Impact Centre

Posted Feb 8, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning and Happy Monday! I am thankful to see buses back on our roads and kids/youth returning to classes this morning. Our hope and prayer is that this will be the first step towards reopening the Centre doors for programs, while being respectful of rules and restrictions. In the meantime, we will be continuing to visit kids each week with a bible study sheet, activity or treat and a packed lunch which includes a bun/baking/fresh fruit and veggies/ and a juice box. During the past month we have delivered a total of 325 kits! Thanks to everyone who contributed baking and buns. This is truly a blessing! As we head into this next month of hopeful transition, our need for these items continues. If you are able to continue helping we would really appreciate it. There are many unfilled spots within the next month. Another update :)

Posted Jan 18, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, I feel like I'm sending out weekly updates as things continue to change with our rules and restrictions. But this update is one of thanksgiving! The local health unit has ok'd us to continue to visit our kids and youth as this is essential for their well being! Praise GOD! So please, take a moment to see where our current needs lie. We will be at the Centre on Tuesdays to accept baking and meals (from 10am to 3pm) and on Thursday afternoons (from 3 to 4:30pm) prepping kits to deliver in our community. Because we are not meeting in person, we are making lunch kits that will include baking, buns, fruits and veggies and a juice box for both our after school kids and our youth. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. We are so incredibly thankful for your continues support! January updates to the meal train

Posted Jan 4, 2021 by Erica Hopman

Good evening, I just wanted to check in with you all and to update you on our current situation at the Centre, as we are not allowed to be open to the public. We understand that the health and safety of the youth who attend our programs is of utmost importance, and are respecting the government regulations that are currently in place. Our hope is that as youth return to school on January 11th, that they will be able to stop by the Centre on route home to grab a dinner to go bag along with a devotional and craft. We will set this up outside. This will at least give us a chance to check in with and encourage them during this time. We will be mailing out postcards this week and will be letting youth know that they can pop by. Lord willing, we hope to be back to our 'normal' group set-up after the lockdown lifts on January 23rd. As such, I have adjusted the meal train to reflect these needs. I am assuming that we won't need as many buns for the two drop-by weeks and have adjusted for this. we will still use the youth baking as I hope that we can do porch visits with our youth and deliver the goodies to them. :) Thank you to all of you for your continued support during such a different year! Please continue to sign up as you are able. I know there is a lot of uncertainty right now, but we still need to be faithful in planning, while trusting that God is in control. Buns and baking needed! Updates to meal train :)

Posted Dec 7, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Hi Everyone, I would like to start by thanking you all for your continued support of the Center's work during a very different year to date. This donation of time and resources has been such a blessing to our kids and youth. Kids are excited to take their meals to go each week, and for us it's so good to see that we can still meet this need in our community. We are thankful that we have been able to keep our doors open for groups and to also deliver activities and dinners to kids who are not able to attend groups. As we head into the final groups before Christmas break, I am looking ahead to our Winter Girl's group (in partnership with River's Edge Farm) and the coming new year. I know that right now is a busy season and you may not be thinking about our meal train, but any help you can give would be really appreciated. We also have a need for dinner buns for tomorrow, though this is a very last minute request! If you could take a moment and see where you can help I would really appreciate it. Also, please feel free to share this email with anyone you know who may share the gift of cooking and baking. Many hands make light work. :) *For baking and buns for our Winter Girl's camp, please contact me to arrange drop off as it is during Christmas break and our office hours will be out of schedule.* We wish you a Blessed Christmas and all the best for 2021. Meal Train update and reminder

Posted Sep 28, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, I'm praying that you are all having a blessed fall with a return to some routines and normalcy. Here at the Centre we have been really digging into how to be a joy filled light in our community as restrictions continue and it seems, increase. Thankfully, God is always faithful and sovereign, and we can rest in Him as we make plans that may need to change. With this in mind we have needed to look at how to reach our kids while following our Government's guidelines. For the month of October we will be welcoming kids to the Centre in a to-go format (think takeout) where they will be able to check in, grab a snack and sandwich, bible study, craft/game and some treats. This will give us an idea of who wants to be a part of Centre activities this coming year and will also allow us to learn exact addresses and family needs. Beginning in November, we will be transitioning to home visits. Volunteers will go out in teams of two to visit Centre kids and their families to deliver these same items. Our hope is that we can be intentionally relational by meeting 1:1 with our Centre kids. What this means for the meal train is that we are still in need of those baked items and sandwiches! :) To-go! Please sign up where you are able. Also, if you are out doing groceries and are able to purchase some juice boxes, granola bars or mini chocolate bars/candy (peanut free please :)) these will be needed as well. There is someone at the Centre for 9-5 on Mondays-Thursdays so you can stop in at time that works for you. Please pray for our fall/winter here at the Centre. We are seeing that this is a difficult season for our community and are hoping to be a blessing through these different programs. Your continued support is truly a blessing! Let me know if you have any questions. Volunteers needed to provide baking and sandwiches for our After School Programs - new dates added

Posted Sep 8, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Hey there! I am SO EXCITED to share that we are gearing up for fall programming here at the Centre. Though things will look different, we hope to continue to provide a welcoming space where kids and youth can feel loved and encouraged. I have updated our meal train to reflect our needs for After School Programs. Please know how valuable your help has been in meeting these needs. This year we will not be able to serve full meals due to health restrictions; however, we also know that we have kids who count on those meals each week. As such, we hope to provide pre-packaged buns or sandwiches that children can take with at the end of groups. The Centre is also available for groups to come in and have a cooking day or evening to freeze in baking. Please contact me if this is something you'd like to arrange. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. Because of volunteers like you, we can continue to meet the needs of the kids and youth in our community. We are so blessed to be able to open our doors and provide a space that is welcoming and safe. Please connect with me if you have any questions. Update of items needed for Summer Breakfast Blessing Boxes

Posted Jun 22, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! I am excited with the response from you all for this summer's baking meal train. Thanks so much! As promised, here is a list of the other items needed for these programs to run. We are basing our plan on helping twenty families; however, this number could change based on the response we receive from our community. Please let me know if you are able to help with any of the items listed. Have a great week. :) Erica Hopman Children's Program Coordinator Youth Impact Centre 215 Chestnut St. Dunnville, ON N1A 2H3 905.920.2798 www.youthimpactcentre.com Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. - 1 Peter 5:7

Meal Train for our Summer Breakfast Blessing Box program

Posted Jun 9, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Good Afternoon, I'm so very excited to announce that we will be needing your baking help this summer! :) The idea for this coming summer is to tweak our existing programs to focus on providing for the needs of our Centre families during a season when finances are stretched and regular Centre and community programming is on hold. We will be checking in with families from a social distance and will offer coffee/juice boxes and prepackaged baking items to go. Families will also be given a blessing box containing breakfast items for the week ahead such as cereal, milk, bread and granola bars (etc.). We will also be offering Camp2Go bags for our kids and youth on Tuesday afternoons. Please sign up to help as you are able. Baking should be prepackaged (Ziploc bags or saran wrapped would be great) for health and safety precautions. We also ask that all baking continue to be peanut free. Baking can be dropped off at the Centre on Tuesday mornings before 10am, or you can contact me to arrange a different time. Though this is not going to be a 'normal' summer of programming, we're very thankful for the opportunity to open our doors in this way and be a light shining in our community. On a special note: We will be reaching out to our supporting churches to partner in this cause and will be seeking donations of breakfast items such as cereal, granola bars, spreads (peanut butter, jam, nutella), juice boxes, coffee, tea, yogurt, bread, cookies and crackers. We will also need large freezies to hand out to camp kids in the afternoon. I will be developing a full list of needed items this week. If you would like to help by donating items needed for our blessing boxes or seeking donations from those you know, please text, call or email me. We would love your help with this! Thanks so much for continuing to use your time and talents to partner with us here at the Centre! Meal Train Volunteers needed for the new year!

Posted Jan 6, 2020 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas spent remembering the beautiful gist of Jesus' birth. I was reminded during our church service yesterday that as individuals we are not always capable of much, but that as a part of the body of Christ, when we all join together, we can do really big things! I say this as I present a large (and needing to be filled) meal train. :) Could you please take a moment to look over where you may be able to help with this need. I know we are heading into cold and flu months, but I would love to have your help if you are able. It's a huge blessing within our community and a way that we can live out the Gospel. I would also love if you could pass this along to anyone that you feel may be willing to help but may not know about this need. Matthew 9:36-38 (NLT)- When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” - a good reminder on this Monday morning. Have a great week!

Meal Train updated for the New Year

Posted Dec 3, 2019 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning, I would like to start by thanking you all for your continued support of the Center's work through your cooking and baking. This donation of time and resources has been such a blessing to our kids and youth. As we head into the final groups before Christmas break, I am looking ahead to the coming new year. I know that right now is a busy season and you may not be thinking about January, but it will be here sooner that we think! If you could take a moment and see where you can help I would really appreciate it. Also, please feel free to share this email with anyone you know who may share the gift of cooking and baking. Many hands make light work. :) We wish you a Blessed Christmas and all the best for 2020. Update to Meal Train

Posted Oct 7, 2019 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! It is so exciting to begin another year of groups in our community. There is a lot of excitement from kids as we saw good numbers across all three groups this past week. I would like to update you all that our numbers are larger this year as we have grown! For grade 5/6 - anticipate 40 kids for cooking For grade 7/8 - anticipate 30 kids for cooking For grades 5-8 baking - bake for 70 kids For Youth group baking - bake for 15 youth I know these numbers are large, and I hope you join me in thankfulness that so many community kids are coming to the center to be involved in a Christ Centered group. This great joy also means the need for your help is great! I am hoping that you can share this need (forward this email to family and friends or post on your churches media page) with anyone that may be able to lend a hand in baking and cooking. Many hands make light work :) Please, if you haven't had a chance yet to sign up, take a moment to do so now. Thanks again for all your hard work in helping feed these kids and youth. I don't know what we'd do without you! New Meal Train for the 2019-2020 School Year

Posted Aug 27, 2019 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! It's hard to believe but summer is ending and fall is is just around the corner! We are looking forward to the start of fall programs and with that comes the renewed need for baking and meals. Please take a look at our meal train and help where you are able. I have updated instructions and amounts needed, so please take a minute to read through the meal train, even if you've been been a part of cooking here for the past few years :). We couldn't run the programs that we do without the many hard working volunteers like you. Thank-you for your ongoing willingness to help with our programs. Also, if you are able to share this meal train on other social media or email platforms with those you know, it would really help to have more willing volunteers for cooking and baking. We are thankful for all the help we receive and are excited to jump back into four fall programming. If you have any questions, please let me know. New Year, New meals needed :)

Posted Jan 7, 2019 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning and Happy New Year! I hope that you enjoyed a wonderful and blessed Christmas. I feel like the kids have headed back onto the bus and it's back to routine. I will once again start remembering what day of the week it is. :) As we start a new year we are also in need of filling in meal volunteer dates. I hope as you settle into routine as well that you may be able to find some dates that work for you in the calendar to bake or come in to cook a meal. I feel confident in speaking for our many youth, volunteers and myself when I say what a blessing your help has been . Thank you so much for those of you that have helped to date! My goal is to see this schedule covered up until March break. Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks :) Erica Hopman Children's Program Coordinator Youth Impact Centre 215 Chestnut St. Dunnville, ON N1A 2H3 905.920.2798 www.youthimpactcentre.com

More meal volunteers needed

Posted Sep 17, 2018 by Erica Hopman

Hi there, We are just two weeks away from beginning our after school programs! I am very thankful for everyone who has signed up so far to help with meals and baking. This truly is an integral part of our After School Programs and something the kids really look forward to. At this time I'd like to invite you to see if there is an upcoming date when you can help with baking or making a meal. Before our October 2nd start date, I would love to see our 2018 meal needs covered. I know this is a big ask, but I also know that many hands make light work. :) A couple of specific ways that you can help include: 1) Sharing this email. More volunteers will help to spread the workload. 2) Planning a meal making event with a group of friends or family (you can use our kitchen at the Centre for cooking as a group either during the day or evening). An example of this is a bible study group planning a cooking morning together. Contact me if you'd like to do this. We have lots of freezer space at the Centre! My hope is to visit our area schools next week to personally invite close to 400 grade 5-8 kids to the Centre. They don't all come ;), but we never know how many kids we will be blessed with once group begins. Please join me in this awesome community outreach by showing love through cooking. Updated Meal Train for Fall Programming

Posted Aug 28, 2018 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! Summer is slowly slipping away and we are gearing up for fall programming here at the Centre. I have updated our meal train to reflect our needs for After School Programs. Please know how valuable your help has been in meeting these needs. I would encourage you to sign up where you can. Throughout this past year, I have personally witnessed the joy that those who have been to the Centre to cook or help have experienced. I would really encourage you, if you are able, to come in to cook for one of our groups. You will experience first hand what the Centre is all about. The Centre is also available for groups to come in and have a cooking day or evening to freeze in meals. Please contact me if this is something you'd like to arrange. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. Because of volunteers like you, we were able to feed kids home cooked meals and baking over 33 weeks this past year. That's just awesome! Lets do it again! Please connect with me if you have any questions. Updated Summer Meal Train- baking needed

Posted Jun 14, 2018 by Erica Hopman

Good Evening! We are headed into the final weeks of school and summer is just around the corner. At the Centre, that means that after school groups have wrapped up and we are in a small break before summer programs begin. This summer we will be in need of different items as we embark on a Family Brunch Program and afternoon programming. Your help is needed with baking. This is something that can be done quite simply in the comfort of your home and dropped off at your convenience. The impact that it has on our programs however, is huge! Please take a moment to sign up where you are able and help us to make our summer programs a success. Thank you for your continued support! Posted Mar 26, 2018 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! Thank you so much for generously donating your time and cooking/baking abilities this year. What a blessing this has been for our after school program! We are currently in the final stretch of our program with group wrapping up at the end of May. With that in mind, we are looking to fill up the remaining dates for our meal train. Follow Up of new regulations for Meal Preparations

Posted Dec 12, 2017 by Erica Hopman

Good Morning! I realize that for those of you who may no longer be able to cook for the Centre, I have not given a clear instruction of how to cancel your meal. This can be done in two ways: 1) Go onto the meal train and cancel your meal by clicking the date you previously selected. OR 2) Email me (replies to this email will go directly to me) and let me know what date you will need to cancel. I will than cancel for you on the meal train. If you are able to continue to cook for us in an approved facility please leave the dates you have selected. Thanks so much!
