While we are about to turn the page on 2021 ...

The challenges created by COVID continue for the caregivers at Danbury Hospital. Throughout the pandemic their commitment to patient care has remained a constant. As we enter 2022, please consider expressing your appreciation for the work they do, once again, by sponsoring a lunch or dinner for a group of these incredible individuals. I have no doubt it will brighten their day and bring a smile to their face. Thanks so much for your consideration.

Earlier this year, the Danbury High School baseball team wanted to help take care of those on the front lines of the coronavirus, not only by social distancing and staying home but also by coming together to both support our local restaurants, doctors, nurses and other personnel at Danbury Hospital. Thanks to this Meal Train page, over 11,000 meals were provided to Danbury Hospital employees from late March through the end of May. As we see the number of COVID cases increase in our community, and with the holiday season around the corner, it may be time to let these courageous men and women know we are again thinking of them - and thanking them - for their commitment and caring. Consider sponsoring meals for these healthcare heroes to help keep their energy up and bring smiles to their faces. By ordering food (any cuisine) we'll also be supporting our local restaurants as they approach a challenging winter season.
Happy Nurses Day to all the angels with a stethoscope

National Nurses Week begins today, May 6, and ends on May 12, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale (May 12, 1820 – August 13, 1910). Florence Nightingale was a celebrated English, social reformer, statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. Thanks to her strict use of hand-washing and hygiene practices while caring for wounded soldiers in the Crimean War, Nightingale and her helpers reduced the death rate from 42% to 2% — ushering in nursing as we know it today.
While we really can't ever thank nurses enough, National Nurses Day (May 6) is a prime opportunity to express appreciation for these superheroes of the worldwide community. We thank them for their patience, compassion and caring, and for the heroic care they have provided to patients throughout this pandemic.
Thank YOU for the wonderful meals you have sent to our incredible caregivers over the last eight weeks. Your support has nourished them physically as well as emotionally, embracing each and every one of them in your caring.
A Big Nuvance "High Five" to our Meal Train Family!
Posted Apr 17, 2020 by Susan Kania
It's hard to believe it's been a little over three weeks since the Danbury High School baseball team started this Meal Train page for Danbury Hospital.
The week of April 12 marked our 100th meal train reservation fulfilled! If that is not worthy of a Nuvance "High Five" to all of you who are so graciously and generously supporting this Meal Train initiative, I don't know what is.
What does that translate to in terms of # of Meal Train meals served? Over 5,000!
If we factor in all of the other meals that have been delivered to the hospital through other avenues - phone calls, emails and word of mouth - the total meals delivered to Danbury Hospital since March 26 jumps to well over 15,000!!
Thanks so very much for embracing our caregivers in such a gracious manner. They couldn't do what they do - each and every day - without you. We are humbled by your generosity and caring.
BBQ Night at Danbury Hospital

There was not a chance of anyone "flying the coop" at Danbury Hospital this past Sunday night when HooDoo Brown BBQ pulled up at 1:00 AM with over 240 chicken dinners for our incredible caregivers working the overnight shift!
As meals were distributed to staff, word quickly spread throughout the hospital about this unexpected treat. Our sincere thanks to Chris and his hardworking team who carefully packaged each meal, complete with a special HooDoo Brown BBQ note gracing the top of the container.
Filling a Need ...

This morning at 1:00 AM - Justin, owner of The 440 Line Restaurant in New Fairfield, delivered a warm, delicious meal - chicken caprese over spaghetti - which was enjoyed by 50 third shift employees.
It smelled incredible and I have no doubt it tasted incredible as well.
Thanks so much, Justin, for embracing us with your culinary talent - especially in the wee hours of the morning!
Meal slots added

We are so amazed by all of the love and support from everyone! Thank you to all who have contributed so far, your generosity speaks volumes of the love we all have for our heroes! We have added more meal slots for lunch and dinner to help with feeding multiple front line staff and also added a third shift slot because we want them to feel the love as well! We understand that it may be hard to have restaurants deliver hot food at midnight so some suggestions also include snack baskets, cupcakes or even ice cream!
*If you do choose to pick third shift delivery please contact Susan ahead of time to set it up- (203) 739-7354.
Thank you again,
Danbury High School Baseball Team Rocks!

A great big shout out to some wonderful young men and Traci Bruno who started this Meal Train page for Danbury Hospital. I am blown away by the thoughtfulness and generosity of so many who are thinking of our caregivers and embracing them in such a tangible way.
Our very first Meal Train lunch came from the team and made the employees in our ICUs very happy. Not only was the lunch appreciated, but the sentiments written on the box as well.
The team is in a league of its own in starting this initiative for us and we couldn't be more grateful to all of you for supporting them and Danbury Hospital's caregivers with your generosity and caring.

While my phone number is on the Meal Train page as the contact for deliveries, I should have noted it in the update:

Over the last week Danbury Hospital has been the recipient of many meals and treats in support of the compassionate work of our caregivers.
Thank you for all of the pizza, sandwiches, salads and "sweet treats" being delivered to our doors! You are bringing smiles to many faces and we very much appreciate all you are doing in recognition of our outstanding staff.
I'll try to remember to take more pictures in the coming weeks to share.
If you have any questions, thoughts or ideas, please feel free to call me. I would love the opportunity to thank you in person for your caring and support.
