About this Meal Train
Thank you all for offering to help our family out. On March 19th, 2019 our son Lukas, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Our world came to a haul at that moment that will be forever changed. Immediately Lukas underwent a bone marrow biopsy and a spinal tap along with a port was installed into his chest for the chemotherapy treatments he will be receiving for the next 3.5 years. Lukas has already begun the process of getting rid of the leukemia in his first 6 week cycle. He is a strong, brave, amazing little boy! Lukas has an older brother Jakob (4.5).
We (my husband and I) appreciate everything that people have been doing for us and continue to do for us from the bottoms of our hearts. We are so grateful and lucky to have such a huge support system. My husband and I are continuing to work to resume some normalcy but will be doing this "alone" as each of us work separate hours. I am a teacher and work during the day and my husband works for FedEx and runs the building at night.
These last couple of months have been a bit "easier" in his treatment. However, come August and September we are going to be going strong again with the weekly chemo appointments and the steroids each week. Similar to the first month of aggressive treatments. Aug/Sept is going to be a a couple of hard months for Lukas and our family. I (Nicole) will be going back to work from summer break trying to get my classroom all set up and starting a new school year. Its going to be very stressful, but we can do it. Having this meal train has been amazing and has really taken lessened the stress load for us that it is one less thing that we have to focus on each day where we can focus on Lukas.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and to help out in any way that you can.
With grateful hearts,
The Voelz Family
