Meal Train Update
Posted Feb 18, 2020 by Lynn Hornecker
Good Afternoon All!
After talking to some of our recipients and volunteers recently it became apparent an update needed to be sent.
We currently have no members on Meal Train for rides or meals and it was brought to our attention that it would be good to put an update out as soon as members no longer need any services. This way volunteers won't feel the need to keep checking the site or wonder if anything is needed.
We will be checking in again with a few of our members to see if they need any help or would like occasional phone calls or visits. As soon as we have another request, we will let you know.
Blessings for all your service to our village,
Meals for Jane Conniff, Rides for Nancy Harju and Art and Esther Pappenfus
Posted Oct 8, 2019 by Lynn Hornecker
Good Morning, Meal Train Friends
We are adding Jane Conniff onto Meal Train again as she returned home this past week from rehabilitation and could use meals for the month of October. Thanks to Len & Jan Cichon for helping with new bed for Jane, Dianna & Don Trepp for new handrails, and Marlene Banneck for visiting.
We continue to need transportation for Nancy Harju and Art & Esther Pappenfus.
If you can help with any of these needs during the month of October, please sign up on the calendar or call Lynn Hornecker if you have any questions.
Everyone is so appreciative of the caring ministries provided at Glory of God. Thank you for all that you give and do.
Have a blessed day,
Care Ministry Team
Jane Conniff Update
Posted Sep 17, 2019 by Lynn Hornecker
Good Morning Everyone,
Many of you heard last Sunday at church that Jane took a fall on Saturday, was taken to Lutheran Hospital and had surgery Sunday morning to re-locate her hip. Surgery was successful and she will move to rehabilitation today. We will remove the Meal Train for the time being, but update her needs once she returns home. Thank you for the support you have provided in August and September.
Rides are still needed for Art and Esther to worship every other Sunday and for Nancy Harju each Sunday.

Meal Train for Jane Conniff

1. After a lengthy visit to Wisconsin, Jane returned home on Wednesday. We are starting a Meal Train for Jane and Janelle for September while Jane gets back on her feet. Please help in anyway you can; volunteer for a meal, visit with Jane, offer to transport her to church or appointments if needed.
2. We also need transportation for Art and Esther Pappenfus to and from Sunday worship every other week. Daughter, Janet is here this weekend celebrating their 63rd Wedding Anniversary and will bring them Sunday, August 25. The next date a ride is needed would be Sunday, September 8th.
3. Transportation for Nancy Harju to Sunday worships each week is also needed.
We do have needs at this time and if you can help in any small way it would be greatly appreciated.

Barb is on the Mend!!
Posted Aug 17, 2019 by Lynn Hornecker
A blessing, appreciate everyone's gracious support, most generous...just a few of the words from Barb & Mike during this Meal Train. Her appointment this week verified how well she is doing and will be moving around the house more easily. Still no weight bearing for 6 weeks, but she feels she can manage the meals. The freezer is full of meals, too!
So, thanks for all the welcome blessings from our village to Barb and Mike while in need.
I caught you all being AWESOME!
Thanks for serving in this ministry,
Barb Larkin Meal Train Update

Barb says the meal train has been a Godsend and enjoys the visits and the food. Way to be the Village. We will continue the meal train through August and evaluate the need for September.
If you have made a meal or visited; thank you so much. If you are available to pick a day in August it will be greatly appreciated.
You are all AWESOME!
Have a blessed week ahead,
Meals for Kathy Brooker
Posted Oct 5, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Kathy is the mother, mother-in-law, grandmother of Shaun, Rebecca and Skye Brooker and has attended our church this past year. She had back surgery on August 30th and is now home from rehabilitation. While she continues therapy and recovery at her home in Commerce City we are offering meals to her. If you can support this in any way, please look over the instructions and give Kathy a call to set up a time to deliver a meal or arrange for delivery from a local restaurant. Thank you for the support you provide so many of our members. It is greatly appreciated.
Latest on Linda & Mike's Meal Train
Posted Mar 12, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Mike is back home after spending time this week in hospital with an infection. We are asking for meals again through March. If you haven't been able to provide a meal yet and would like to; there are still some opportunities this week and next. Please check with Linda before delivering to see what times will work and be respectful of Mike's need for no visitations due to infections. Prayers would be greatly appreciated. Bless you all for offering this ministry.
Changes to Mike and Linda's Meal Train
Posted Feb 13, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Hello and Happy Pre-Valentine's Day to all ~
We were so excited to see Mike & Linda at church yesterday after his stay in the hospital for a couple of days having tests run! He looked great and was so upbeat - AMAZING!!
We are going to reorganize the calendar for meals every third day instead of every other day. They feel it may be too much food and don't want to waste food or your time. Also, Mike cannot have fresh salad/veggies right now because of higher possibility of bacteria. But, Linda will still eat them so make a smaller salad if you choose to do that. Also, salmon is still a good fish for them.
I am readjusting the calendar and placing your names as close to the date you signed up for...if that does not work for you, please go in and change the date to another that is better for you. Thank you so much for your willingness to volunteer for this ministry. You are a blessing to the Austin's and their family.
Meal Train Update for Mike
Posted Feb 9, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Hi, everyone ~ How exciting to see so many of Mike and Linda's family and friends join the Meal Train so quickly. Today is just the 2nd meal they will receive so no news on that yet.
I want to share should you make a fish dinner for them that it not be shellfish or bottom fish. Salmon would be the preferred fish. And, one of you already chose that for a meal - Awesome!!
As we all know, immune systems are compromised during chemo treatments so remember to be respectful of that should you have the sniffles or an infection of any kind.
Blessings to all and enjoy these beautifully warm Colorado days we are having,
Mike Austin Meal Train
Posted Feb 4, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Hello everyone ~ We have added Mike and Linda Austin to our GOG Meal Train as Mike started his chemo treatment late this week. Please log on to the Meal Train site and volunteer if you can for any of the available dates. We have added some new participants who are family and friends of the Austins.
After reading the Information section please go down to read the general information that explains more about the details. We will set up delivery volunteers to take the meals to Mike and Linda beginning February 7th. If you are interested in delivering meals, please let Lynn Hornecker know.
Val & Joe Shaffer
Posted Feb 4, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Hello everyone ~ Thank you so much for all your support; meals, visits, offers to transport while Val was recovering from her recent knee replacement.
She began PT this week right by Lutheran and even went grocery shopping with her daughter, Becky yesterday. She will continue PT but has family members that will be taking her. And, she is very excited to start planning and preparing the meals for her and Joe once again.
They are planning to attend church this Sunday if all goes well and look forward to seeing all of you. I reassured her that we can be available for meals and rides, if needed until she is cleared to drive again...which she thinks will be very soon. She is the type of patient we all hope to be and are grateful to minister to.
Again, thanks for jumping on the train and keeping it moving so well. You are all awesome!

Dinners and Rides for Val & Joe Shaffer
Posted Jan 26, 2017 by Lynn Hornecker
Val is progressing beautifully and has greatly appreciated all the help GOG has provided so far. She is setting up PT (out of home) for next week and beyond and will need rides until she is cleared to drive. She is hoping to find one in the Wheat Ridge area and the time commitment would be 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours total for the volunteer. When she gets the dates set up, I will add to the calendar and anyone can volunteer. They still needs meals for the next two weeks so if you haven't signed up and can, have at it. You are all so wonderful and our Care Ministry Team thanks you!
Meals for members Val and Joe Shaffer

Val is recovering from knee surgery she had on January 9th. They are requesting meals for the next two weeks and possibly transportation the end of the month. Please log on to the Meal Train and see how you might be able to volunteer to assist. This is such a wonderful ministry that has worked well in the past, many times, and we now need to put it in practice again. Ruth Zinn and I send thanks to all of you for your past assistance and we hope you can provide once again. Have a great week!
Rides to Sunday Worship Service and Special Events
Posted Jun 3, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
Hello fellow Meal Train Participants,
With summer vacations happening and special events taking place we are in need of more drivers for 2 of our members at Glory of God. If you can sign up to assist in picking either of them up around 8:15 and returning them home at 11:00 or so, please volunteer. Then, give that person a call the evening before to let them know you will be coming at 8:15. You should also give them a call before you leave to pick them up in case their circumstances have changed. Thank you so much for serving our members with this ministry. You are a blessing to them and our Care Ministry Team.

Bev Rollag Update
Posted Apr 11, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
Happy, dreary Monday morning to all ~
It was wonderful to see Bev in church yesterday and to see how many of you welcomed her back. She is making great progress. We are extending our CMT services to her this week, as well, so please see the updated calendar. Visiting slots have been broken into 2 shorter times so that helps volunteers. If you can fill in any of the remaining slots this week, it would be greatly appreciated. I leave town from Wednesday evening to the following Wednesday evening so Susan Steinhauer will be the contact person in my absence.
Thank you for your love and support of one of Glory of God's family members. We are AWESOME!
Bev Rollag Update
Posted Apr 10, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
Bev is progressing beautifully and is such a joy to be with for an hour or a day. After spending the day with her, Linda has asked that we try to provide just one more week of support. They believe she will be fine alone after the end of this coming week. I have added to the schedule so all of you that are able to visit with Bev any of the days this next week would be greatly appreciated. I am unable to spend time with Bev after tomorrow because of other commitments so a village is what it will take for the next 5-8 days. Bev and Linda are very appreciative of all the support they have received. Glory of God is AWESOME and I have caught you in that awesomeness!!
Bev Rollag Update
Posted Apr 5, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
As many of you heard on Sunday, Bev had a fall Saturday evening and spent the evening in Lutheran Hospital. Two broken ribs and internal bleeding; but she returned home late Sunday afternoon. The calendar is correct and all volunteers are still doing what is scheduled. Linda will update me on Thursday with any other needs Bev may have the following week. This could include some meals.
Please note we still have Thursday, Friday and Saturday open if anyone can volunteer a couple of hours to sit with Bev on any of those days or times. Thank you for all of the communication and concern for Bev and her daughter, Linda. They are very appreciative. Blessings, Lynn
Bev Rollag Train
Posted Apr 2, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
Good Evening ~
I am excited to report to you that Bev Rollag is back in her home in Golden as of Wednesday, March 30. Her daughter, Linda is staying with her for the next two weeks. Bev needs some assistance from us during those 2 weeks when her daughter is at work. After meeting with them today we were able to build a "meal train" calendar that really doesn't include meals as Linda has been busy cooking. The needs are for visitation times and transportation to and from church on Sundays. Please check the calendar and see if you can assist in any way during these 2 weeks. As always, because your name is on the train does not mean you are obligated to assist. We are very grateful to all GOG members that can help in any way possible.
Thank you and have a blessed weekend,
Lynn and the Care Ministry Team
Bev Rollag Is Home
Posted Apr 1, 2016 by Lynn Hornecker
Good Morning, Meal Train Family
Good News...Bev Rollag returned to her home in Golden on Wednesday and her daughter, Linda is staying with her the next two weeks while she continues recovery.
Our Care Ministry Team has been asked to provide some sitting and companionship with Bev until April 8th when Linda is hopeful Bev will be able to stay alone once again.
When speaking with Bev and Linda Wednesday the dates look to be April 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, & 8. The times they are looking at now would be from 10 am to 4 pm. I am meeting with them this afternoon at Bev's home to go over OT & PT schedules, medications, and limitations. Once I meet with them I will put together a schedule on meal train as we have done in the past for Van Fleets and Kurt. I like the ease of Meal Train (even if it's not for FOOD!!)
If any of you can help in any of the ways posted, please sign up and I will share the calendar with Bev and Linda. Thank you so much for the love and care you all offer to so many members in our church and their extended families. We hear so many wonderful praises from them. We are doing God's Work with Our Hands.
Blessings and have a fabulous Friday,

As many of you saw Christmas Eve, Kurt has been cleared to walk and has asked that we stop the meal train service. He has been so gracious throughout his rehabilitation and thankful to all that provided meals, rides, shoveling, and visits.
My thanks to all of the Care Ministry Team and members of Glory of God that stepped in to help minister to Kurt. What a glorious group you all are and you made this so easy to offer. Have a beautiful last week of 2015 and be safe heading into 2016.
When we set up our next meal train, my hope is many of you and many others will again offer any services you have.
Peace and God's Blessings,
Meals for Kurt
Posted Dec 16, 2015 by Lynn Hornecker
If any of you can provide a meal for Kurt Thursday, Friday or Saturday it would be great. So many people have provided meals during this rehabilitation process and Kurt continues to be extremely grateful. He shared with me tonight that he enjoyed the time he and Debbie Yergert spent visiting last night when she dropped off dinner. He really likes chatting and sharing about Luke and Abbey's lives. If you haven't had a chance to check in on him or make a dinner, he would love to hear from you.

Great news...mark & I took Kurt to his post op appt today and all is progressing well. The cast on left hand was removed and knee brace but leg is still not weight bearing. He was very excited to have more mobility. So remarkable how well he is doing. Fun to sit and yak with him before he went in. Appt was about an hour and 15 min; so many things checked out. We still need to provide dinner meals and he will let me know when those meals can be sent without cutting and packing so specifically. Kurt continues to appreciate all that is being provided and is very thankful to have so many who have offered help. Thank you everyone!! Lynn
