strength in numbers

Posted Jan 12, 2022 by Brenda Myers

I would like to start off by thanking everyone for the amazing meals being provided to The Mission guests. Our guests are very happy and grateful to have such great food and such a variety. Please take note to the changes on the meal train page that have been made in regards to the numbers of those we are currently serving during dinners and Sunday hot breakfasts. As we are seeing a rise in Covid cases, do what makes you feel most comfortable, regarding wearing masks. Please stay safe and healthy, Covid has taken too many loved ones from so many. There are a lot of open dates to serve, if you are unable to stay to serve, but wish to provide a meal and drop it off, please just let us know. God Bless Brenda Myers

Merry Christmas!

Posted Dec 25, 2021 by Brenda Myers

Wishing you and your families a very blessed Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season and some of our loved ones are celebrating with Jesus this year; how lucky are they. It doesn't take away our broken hearts, tears and the emptiness, but it does give us the promise and hope that we will see them again. Yesterday, there was a donation of winter produce to The Mission of carrots, cabbage, sweet potatoes, potatoes, onions , if any of you wish to grab some to use with any of the meals you have signed up for, please let me know so we can arrange a time for you to pick them up. Thank you each and every one for all you do to help provide for the needs of others. God Bless you all. Merry Christmas Richard and Brenda Myers

Change of address for nightly dinners and Sunday morning hot breakfast

Posted Dec 8, 2021 by Brenda Myers

Good evening everyone! Thank you all for helping provide meals for those in need staying at The Missions Kessler Care Center. God is doing great things!! Tonight, we are rejoicing that our 5th guest in a month has agreed to go to rehab. We are also excited to say, that renovations have started at the property located on Sheriff Miedzinski Way, so the nightly meals will not be served at that property during this time. Instead, the hot meals will be served at The Kessler Care Center (the round buildings) located next to the Chesapeake Charter School located on Great Mills Road. The address is 20947 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park. If you have any questions, please reach out. I will be adding a photo, so you will have a visual of the location. Thank you and God Bless

Changes until further notice

Posted Nov 1, 2021 by Brenda Myers

First, thank you everyone for signing up during this spiritual battle we are in. Effective immediately, food drop offs (dinners and Continental breakfasts) will be received at 5pm at the Kessler Care Center (The round buildings next to the charter school on Great Mills Road) From here, the food will be delivered to our guests at their locations. We ask that the dinners be placed in to go containers to make the drop off easier. If you don't have to go containers, we can try to get some to you, or you can go to a restaurant and ask them for a donation of containers to help feed the homeless for The Mission. We also ask, that you continue to pray for Pastor Robert Myers, his entire family, and The Mission ministry team during this time. Thank you and God Bless each and every one of you.

urgent need

Posted Aug 14, 2021 by Brenda Myers

Good evening everyone! First, I want to start off by saying THANK YOU all so much for everything you do to help serve those in need. All the guests that are staying in The Kessler Center overnight are enjoying the variety of meals everyone is preparing. Rebecca, a very loyal and dedicated Mission family member, along with being my partner in setting everything in motion to make sure our guests are fed, is out of commission for at least a couple of months. Thursday, she broke her tibia and fibula and will be needing surgery followed by a long road of recovery. I personally don't know what I will do without her, but I trust God will meet all the needs of The Mission and our guests. Please, I know this is a big ask, but if you could please check your calendars, and sign up to help with some additional meals, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless Brenda Myers

COMING SOON!! SERVING NIGHTLY DINNER AND CONTINENTAL STYLE BREAKFAST

Posted Mar 2, 2021 by Brenda Myers

Starting on Sunday March 14th, The Mission is excited to say that we will be starting Mission Nights and will be in need of volunteers to provide dinner for the homeless before being transported to The Kessler Center for overnight. We will also be in need of items for continental breakfasts to be handed out to our guests as they depart for the day. Myself and a few others will be doing the first few nights to gauge how many guests we may be serving, to help provide you with more information on how many we are consistently serving. If you would like to help me provide the first few days of meals, please contact me. For questions or more information, please send an email to Brenda@seekingshelter.com Dinner should be set up and ready to serve at 6pm, if the time changes, I will be posting an update. Continental Breakfasts should be nonperishable and prepackaged. Also, they can be dropped off ahead of time (for example Sundays or any evening during dinner) Ideas or examples for continental breakfast items are soft granola/fruit bars, individual peanut butter, individually wrapped muffins and cookies, tuna salad kits, bottled water, cheese/cracker snacks, etc. These items could be made up in lunch bags, so they can grab them as they depart. Soft fruits are also great, but we would prefer them to not be placed in the bags with the nonperishable items. Please feel free to be creative.

Hello everyone, The Mission changed its location for the Sunday service and breakfast. We will be having the service at our new property located at 21606 Sheriff Midenski Way, Lexington Park, Maryland. It is near Ollies shopping center and the new sheriffs office off of Great Mills Road. There will be tables set up with sternos and paper products for food service. The new property has a gated area with covered parking. This is where everything will be set up for the outdoor service. You will be able to drive through the gate, so you can unload and park your car. Thank you and God Bless!
