Special Instructions

IMPORTANT: Our delivery teams meet at 12:15 pm at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library at the back of the parking lot near the trees and picnic tables. Call 214-212-7958 if you can't find us when you deliver the food. Please text 214-212-7958 immediately upon registering (no matter what time) so that we can call you back (at a reasonable hour) to verify that you are a real person and will follow through with your commitment. Remember to include the date you signed up and your name. Also, please text 214-212-7958 the day before your meal is due to confirm your delivery by 12:15 pm the following day. Please include your name and the date your meal is due. We need you to prepare at least 72 meals and bring 3 cases of 24 waters. Add plastic ware to each meal bag if needed. Please join us as we deliver the food. When we meet you at 12:15 pm at the Library, we will receive the food and divide it up by how many every delivery teams we have. If you can join us, you will follow an experienced delivery team leader. You will learn so much! It's sort of like a "meals on wheels" for the homeless experience. It currently takes us about three hours to take the meals to all of the homeless. We need more volunteers to team up and learn the route so we can "divide and conquer" and deliver faster. If you are able to come and help us deliver the food, please text us at 214-212-7958 and let us know. Please include that you want to help deliver food and give your name. We will get back with you. Many of our volunteers have had great success in promoting to their friends and family that they are feeding the homeless in Grand Prairie and asking for their help to sponsor items and/or help to assemble the food. We've had whole families get involved as well as civic clubs, such as the Grand Prairie Rotary Club, and the Grand Prairie Host Lions Club. We've had Bible study groups, such as the Walingford Village Women's Bible Study Group and many churches and some businesses get involved. Try promoting your effort on your personal Facebook page and see if people will support your effort. Please take photos and text them to us at 214-212-7958 as you prepare your food. When we can, we try to post those to encourage others to participate. Please follow us on our Facebook page at @gphoo81. Please note that your meal is more than likely the only meal they will have that whole day. Please make sure there is enough food in the lunch. We suggest at a minimum that you include a sandwich or other protein source (could be a hot meal), chips, a fruit cup or some fruit and a sweet item. If you do a hot item with vegetables or a side item, you don't need to add chips and a fruit cup, but you can add those things. Please add a sweet item if possible and plastic ware in the side bag for hot meals or lunch sack (for shelf stable meals). Lastly, please know that we are very grateful for your help and you can reach us at 214-212-7958 if you have any questions. Texting is better than calling. Please be patient with us. We will respond as soon as possible. Thank you!
